First Campaign in 1973
Baptist Ambassadors to America (BATA) led its first campaign to plant a church in the summer of 1973 in Boston, Massachusetts. BATA began as a ministry of Open Bible Baptist Church in Canton, Michigan, where Dr. Fred Schindler pastored at the time. Dr. Ron Hodge became the director of BATA which was operating at the time as "Heart-Cry for Revival".
During the five weeks of intense activity with an average of thirty-five workers from across the country participating in soul-winning for eight hours a day, God saved 2,800 souls and established the Boston Baptist Temple.
As a result of this campaign, three other churches were started in the northeast by preachers who joined us for the Boston Project.

BATA Church Planters in 1975-1994
In 1975, Dr. Hodge became the pastor of the First Baptist Church in Madison Heights, Michigan. Over the next twenty years, "BATA Church Planters" was a ministry of this church and was used to help plant churches in needy areas as well as help strengthen existing churches.
BATA Missionary Fellowship - 1994 to Present
In June of 1994, through a series of circumstances and the clear leading of the Holy Spirit, Dr. Ron Hodge entered full time into missionary work. At this time, he led "BATA Church Planters" to expand and become "Baptist Ambassadors to America Missionary Fellowship."
For the last ten years, our emphasis has been on church planting, church strengthening and material distribution in the remote mountain areas of the Appalachians. God has been very good to send us many helpers in this ministry and we are expanding our reach to other needy areas in America as the Lord guides and provides.
